Sex on edibles is a hot topic and one I get asked about frequently. When you’re new to cannabis or edibles even, there’s a few things you should know before you pop that THC gummy and jump into bed with your partner.
Don’t take an edible without knowing how much to take
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard about someone just eating an edible and regretting it a couple of hours later, swearing off cannabis forever. Listen, if you took a row of tequila shots and became violently ill, that’s because you drank too much. If you had just one or two shots, you’d have a completely different experience. How much THC you consume matters.

DO research starter doses
There’s no standard dosing guideline as we’re still learning about how cannabis works in the body. However with cannabis there’s a basic guideline for a starter dose and that’s 2.5 to 5mg.
Don’t take an edible too soon before sex
Edibles take awhile before they kick in, usually anywhere between 30min to 2 hours and they last several hours as well.
DO take an edible about an hour before getting down to business
You want to give the edible a chance to do it’s thing. Wait at least an hour as edibles peak around 2 to 3 hours. This will ensure you’re getting the real infused sex experience.
Don’t take an edible for the first time before sex
You don’t know how it’s going to make you feel. Not every edible is the same, some might feel different than others depending on the blend. For example, I get horrible anxiety from a certain cannabis oil however I feel great if I take a different brand that’s in chocolate form. Try different products to find out which one will work best for you.
DO try out edibles on your own first
You need to figure out which edible works best for you and how much. Also how it will make you feel, some may make you feel sleepy and the last thing you want to do is fall asleep during sex! The other thing that can happen if you take the wrong amount is feeling too overstimulated. If you’ve never tried edibles before, spend a couple of evenings trying different brands at different amounts of THC and see what works best for you.
