This year, the year of the plague, we deserve to get a truly lit holiday with cannabis. I’ve put together a list of my favourite edibles that will make nice gifts for your friends or yourself because you deserve it. Think of these as the alternative to the typical bottle of wine, or in addition to- because that’s what friends are for!
This year offered up so many options for edibles, especially chocolates. These are my top picks for gifting:
Aurora Drift Chocolates
Available flavours: Caramel Half Spheres, Caramel Sea Salt, 64% Cocoa Dark and Milk
Aurora Drift chocolates not only taste divine, they also come in lovely packaging with each piece of chocolate separated for easy dosing. The caramel half spears are beautiful and also come in the perfect package for gifting. You really can’t go wrong with these chocolates. The caramel half spheres come in a pack of 5 x 2mg THC (sativa dominant) chocolates. The dark, milk and caramel sea salt come in 5 x 2mg THC chocolate squares.
Tweed Bakerstreet & Peppermint
This is Tweed’s Bakerstreet cultivar in an edible, and it’s a really lovely chocolate. Not too sweet with a hint of peppermint so it’s not overpowering. Each chocolate is a little work of art, this would make a great gift for someone who likes peppermint chocolate. Each package contains 4 x 2.5mg THC (Indica) chocolate squares.
Fireside Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate
Fireside Salted caramel dark chocolate are small batch truffles developed by award winning chocolatier ChocolaTas. This is one divine chocolate, it’s my favourite. If you have a friend that loves caramel, they’ll enjoy this decadent infused treat. Each package contains 2 x 5 mg THC truffles.
Edison Bytes Chocolate Truffles
If you’re a fan of Godiva Dark Chocolate Truffles then you’ll love the dark chocolate truffle by Edison Bytes. Their truffles comes in mild or dark and gingerbread for the holidays. Edison Bytes truffles are made with a combination of Criollo, Forastero and Trinitarioare cacao beans. They’re a decadent treat and would be the perfect indulgence this holiday season. They come in a package of 1x10mg THC truffle or 2x 5mg THC (hybrid) truffles.
One big surprise this year was the many amazing beverages now available on the market. Here are my top picks:
Haven Street Teas
Haven St. Teas are made from natural ingredients and cannabis infused sugar. I’ve tried the Peace No. 150 tea and Rise No. 550 and both of them were lovely teas. These would make the perfect gift for the tea lover on your list.
Each package contains 1 tea bag. Flavours available:
Peace No. 150 20mg CBD: Green tea blend
Reset No. 250 5mg THC and 5mg CBD: Chamomile berry herbal tea
Focus No. 350 5mg THC and 10mg CBD: Vanilla earl grey
Drift No. 450 10mg THC and 5mg CBD: Chocolate Rooibos
Rise No 550 10mg THC: Citrus berry
Mollo by Hexo
My next pick is for beer lovers out there who prefer the feel of cannabis. This “beer” by Mollo tastes like a light beer however there’s no alcohol, instead each bottle has either 2.5mg CBD and 2.5 THC or 5mg CBD and 5mg THC.
Dry Grapefruit by little Victory
Little Victory Dry Grapefruit is similar to a wine spritzer. This drink is made with wine grapes so it gives it that unique wine flavour without alcohol. Instead each bottle contains 2.5mg of CBD and 2.5mg of THC and would make the perfect mocktail this holiday season. I recommend getting the trio of Little Victory flavours with Dark Cherry and Blood Orange for a unique gift.
There’s several chews (gummies) on the market and if you know someone who prefers an adult candy, these are my top picks.
Japanese Citrus Yuzu by Wana
Wana is originally from the U.S and they’ve brought their chews to the Canadian market through Indiva. I love these chews as they’re tasty and they have 10mg of CBD per chew, the highest I’ve seen so far from the legal market. Each package contains 5mg of THC per piece (2 pieces) and 10mg of CBD per piece. Pick up the Strawberry Lemonade and Blueberry Sour for a lovely trio to give someone this year.
Grapefruit and Hibiscus by Kolab Project
This chew by Kolab Project is hands down my favourite chew, both for the taste which is not too sweet and how it makes me feel. This chew is happiness in a candy, and it will make a great gift for someone to lift their spirits this holiday season.
These are also winners for me this year that would make a great cannabis gift that didn’t quite fit in the other categories.
Solei Free CBD Oil
What I like about this CBD oil is it’s light in taste. Many of the other oils I’ve tried have a strong cannabis flavour, this one is mild and easy to swallow. This would make a great addition to any gift as CBD goes so wonderfully with THC and it can be expensive to buy CBD. This bottle retails for around $25 and is 10mg of CBD per 1 ml and comes in a 300ml bottle.
Ripple Infusers by TGod
TGOD dissolvable powder is a popular edible for a reason, it’s fast acting (you’ll feel the effects in 15 minutes) and dissolves easily into beverages and food. It has a bit of a sour/citrus taste which makes it perfect for smoothies or adding to a soda. It would also be great for mocktails or a lemony soup or tea. It comes in a packet with 10mg THC powder.
